What are Grid Connected Solar Systems?
When the sun shines solar panels generate DC electricity. An inverter converts the DC electricity produced by the solar panels into 240V AC electricity, which can then be used by the property.
If the system is producing more power than is being consumed, the surplus is fed into the power grid. When the solar panels are not producing power, for example at night, your power is supplied by the mains power grid as usual. Click here to download a detailed explanation on Grid Connected systems.
How and why become a GGE
Why do I need to do this now?
With 75% of Victorians feeling growing pressure to change the way they live to reduce the impacts of climate change, and electricity prices set to rise, the growing demand for green skills is undeniable. With the global financial crisis pushing us to save, energy experts that can reduce electricity bills and guide customers to rebates and credit schemes will be needed.

Will this get me work?
The federal governments economic stimulus package has included subsidizing energy efficiency measures. Energy efficiency programs run in the UK have concluded that household energy efficiency measures can be the easiest and cheapest way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Federal budget has earmarked spending to require greater energy efficiency measures to be applied to commercial buildings. The demand for the skills taught in the GGE course will only continue to grow.
What will it cost me to do the course?
We will continue to explore options for funding to enable us to deliver the GGE course at the minimum cost to the participant. As a result course cost will vary from time to time as these funding option are exercised.
